PRV Audio NEW Regulation on XMAX specification
After extensive research, PRV Audio Brazil, as well as some other major loudspeaker manufacturers, is adopting a new equation to determine the XMAX specification of loudspeakers.
In 1981, Mark Gander proposed the equation below in his study about loudspeaker moving coils topology and linear excursion, which PRV has been using it until now.
Since then, a lot of improvements were made on the magnet motors and suspension design, reducing the distortion on large displacements, allowing us today to use a less conservative equation but with the same acoustic results.
